6 TIPS FOR LAST MINUTE CHRISTMAS SHOPPING
Jingle bell, Christmas sales, jolly all the way! It’s that time of year again! Shopping streets are gorgeously lighted, hot Choco brewing in every café and Netflix flooded with Christmas rom coms. Are they corny and typical? YES. Am I still going to watch it? ONE HUNDRED PERCENT. But that’s not the point. What I love most about this season is the crazy epic SALES! With all the stunning gift sets, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and fall into the temptation of buying everything ESPECIALLY if you are a last-minute shopper. But don’t worry if you still haven’t started your shopping, we’ve got you covered with a few tips to help you get through your last-minute Christmas shopping!
Make a list and budget
Having a list and budget is the first most crucial way in helping you stay on track your shopping. Creating a list and budget helps you focus on what you need, for whom and how much to spend. Not only does this minimise window shopping but also prevent you from overspending. Create your own list or use one of Microsoft excel template (search: Holiday). Don’t forget to bring your list on your shopping spree and tick off those that you’ve done, that way you will not miss out on anyone.
Plan your route
We know how traffic and crowd can be during the last few days leading up to the holiday. As you are already short on time, plan and map out the most efficient travelling route beforehand for your shopping. This can be done simply via google map. The best option would be if you could get all your shopping done in one mall. That way, you get to eliminate the hassle and time taken for travelling.
When shopping, it’s easy to get distracted. Retailers have a few tricks up their sleeves to get you to linger in their stores, such as playing catchy holiday music and scenting the air with pleasant holiday smells. Next thing you know you have spent an hour and a half in bath and body works. To avoid this boogie trap, plan how long you intend to spend in each store and try stay on schedule. Get what you need on your list and move on to the next.
Gift wrapping services
Time is money and money is time. Take advantage of stores that offer gift wrapping services. This will come in real handy especially if you’re running out of time. Plus, you will spend less money on wrapping paper and stationaries.
Almost everything now can be bought online in the comfort of your own home. It’s far less stressful, and you can visit 10 stores in 15 minutes from the luxury of your sofa. As it is the busiest time of the year for both retail and logistic companies, make sure you opt for guaranteed delivery before Christmas. If you’re afraid you won’t be able to receive your goods in time, the next efficient way would be choosing a click and collect service which many retailers provide.
As far as thoughtfulness goes, we can all agree that this one is at the bottom the list. A gift card is something you get someone when you’re either clueless on what to get them or lack the time. But in all honesty, gift cards can be a pretty neat gift. It gives your recipient the privilege to choose something that they really want and like for themselves. Plus, it saves you the time and the disappointment of choosing the wrong gift. (Yikes!).
